Mode of Selection for Punjab Steno Grade-III Recruitment 2025
1. Computer-Based Test (CBT)
- Marks: 60 (60 MCQs on English Composition & General Knowledge).
- Duration: 1 hour.
- Qualifying Criteria:
- No negative marking.
- Shortlisting: Candidates 3x the advertised vacancies (by normalized marks) will qualify for the next stage.
- Normalization: Applied if CBT is conducted in multiple shifts using the Standard Deviation Method (page 6 formula).
2. English Shorthand & Transcription Test
- Dictation Speed: 80 words per minute (WPM).
- Transcription Speed: 20 WPM (on a computer).
- Passing Criteria: ≤8% errors allowed.
3. Spreadsheet Test
- Marks: 10 (qualifying only).
- Duration: 10 minutes.
- Passing Criteria: ≥4 marks (40%).
- Only candidates scoring ≥4 marks will have their Shorthand Test evaluated.
4. Document Verification & Final Merit List
- Final Merit: Based solely on English Shorthand & Transcription Test performance.
- Candidates with fewer errors rank higher.
- Tie-Breakers:
- Older candidate placed higher.
- If age is same, alphabetical order of names.
